Welcome to Miss Ashley’s Nest

A home away from home drop-off experience

for nurturing the young child in Jamesport, NY.

The freedom
to be children.

Miss Ashley's Nest is located in Jamesport, NY on the North Fork of Long Island. In her magical yard, your child is able to explore almost an acre of land, with farm field views looking out for miles.

As a child with Miss Ashley’s Nest, you will walk through the flower fields, pick vegetables, bake and cook from scratch. You’ll learn to take care of the chickens. A typical day might include art activities, water play, a chance to stick your toes in mud or sandbox, circle time with other children, and a nice rest under a shady tree.

  • “Miss Ashley's Nest is the quintessential environment for children."

“… Her calm demeanor, creative mind, and health conscious nature make her an absolute gem of a caretaker. I am so incredibly grateful for what she has created for our homeschooled children and hope her program continues to grow. She is truly one of a kind.”

    - Christie Quattrini

  • "The moment you step foot into Miss Ashley's Nest... "

“…you're overtaken by a calm that's hard to ignore, and I know this is also true for my son, who attends the nursery program. We've watched our intense, wild boy turn from constant silly chaos to confident and connected and we swear it's because of the style of learning and environment he is in while at school. We are eternally grateful for Miss Ashley and Miss Gloria and their approach to the needs of the young child.”

    - Michelina Da Fonte, Founder of Petite North Fork

  • "It is difficult to put into words how truly fond we are of Miss Ashley. "

“We met Miss Ashley in 2020 when my son Anthony started at Harbor Waldorf school in her nursery class. Any parent will know how hard it is to drop your child off to nursery school for the first time. Tears were shed on my end as well as my sons, but there was such a warmth in Miss Ashley that I intuitively knew he was in the most perfect hands. Throughout that year my son evolved into this incredible young being. He would come home and sing the songs he heard that day. He was trying all sorts of new nutritious and wonderful foods. That year was a special one, and as days went by Miss Ashley became a part of our family. She’s kind, nurturing, respectful, and her calm demeanor taught my boy so much even at his young, tender age of three. Presently, in 2024 my daughter Meridian attends Miss Ashley‘s Nest and I couldn’t be more grateful to give her the early childhood experiences that my son had with Ashley. We are so grateful to have Ashley as a teacher, a role model, and simply an inspiration as a person and an educator.”

    - Allison

  • "We are so grateful to be part of such a special program. "

“Our family have known Miss Ashley for a few years now and we absolutely adore her and the lovely space she has created for the children! Our kids have attended both Miss Ashley’s summer camp and afternoon program this past school year. The kids love going and we feel confident that they are receiving a loving, balanced, unhurried experience at the “nest”. We love that they get to play and be in a beautiful, nourishing and predictable rhythmic environment. The children come home from their time at miss Ashley’s singing the songs from the day and sharing little stories about the garden and the chickens.”

    - Alexandra and Alex Torres

Meet Miss Ashley

My mission is to preserve childhood as if it were decades ago. Where imaginative play and practical work is the foundation of childhood.

Miss Ashley's Nest is a program I run from my own home on the North Fork of Long Island. I built this new initiative with the goal of strengthening community and friendship in the area, for both parents and children. My hopes are to find each other in this shared space, to build everlasting relationships, and to support each other.

"You must be for the children the representative of the good, the true, and the beautiful. The children must be drawn to truth, goodness, and beauty simply because the children are drawn to you yourself."

- Rudolf Steiner
